Hello, welcome to North Shore Headache & Wellness Center. My name is Trupti Gokani, and I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself and the Center as a whole.
Very often, when I see a patient, I ask about their symptomatology, and it's really interesting to me how many different symptoms often occur with migraines. Whenever I ask the patient, tell me the last time that you felt completely healthy, completely free of symptoms, what surprises me is how often patients tell me they really can't remember when that last was.
I did my training in neurology, and was board-certified in neurology, and then went on and did advanced training in psycho-pharmacology. But what I found myself doing over the last few years was I began to ask "Why?" Why do you suffer with these headaches, or sleep disturbances, or digestive issues? You know, what is the etiology of these symptoms? And I found myself fascinated by this other layer of approach, looking at the integrative, healing aspect of treating. And I found that my practice naturally has evolved to a balanced practice, where I'm using medications and injectables along with the integrative approach of lifestyle modification, herbal supplements, and teaching patients how to correct what they can correct.
And I use an ancient system of healing, Ayurvedic Medicine, which is 5,000 years in origin, and many believe it was the first system of healing known to mankind. I completed my training in Ayurvedic Medicine a few years ago and it has completely changed my practice. What I've found is that I can actually evaluate your specific mind body or energetic type.
At our center, our goal is to educate and empower our patients. We would like to provide you with a very comprehensive visit, where we look at your body as a system and we evaluate your entire system.
What I find really fascinating is how we can integrate these approaches of integrative medicine along with traditional medicine and find the right balance for you, a program to fit your needs. Many visits, I recommend altering simply the way you work out, or the foods that you eat, and continue medications as they have normally been given. And we find that that itself can help the overall symptomatology.
And back to that optimal state of healing, what we look for is: Where is your current imbalance state, and where is your ideal balance state supposed to be? So the key is to understand what your current imbalance state is to then give you what your balance state would be like, and then to work during the visits by providing you with tools to get to that balance state, because it can be achieved. And what's wonderful is that once you achieve that state, you will stay committed to the program of healing because you'll feel so good.
With a little guidance, and with a positive mental attitude, we are here to help you achieve well-being. Pain-free days are waiting.
